How can I identify birds when they're flying

A new book is out, the Crossley ID Guide Western Birds. It’s aimed at beginner/intermediate birders. I’m finding I like it because the illustrations depict the species in it’s typical habitat in many typical poses and in flight - both females and males. I think these illustrations may helpful for learning to ID birds in flight. I hope I’m not breaking any copyright conventions by posting one page as a sample. But, if I am, let me know and I’ll delete the pic.
