How is taxonomy updated?

I have identified Aega stroemii Lutken, 1859, but that gets placed as a junior synonym of Aega crenulata which, as far as I am aware, is totally incorrect. See Aega bicarinata from 7242 Knarrlagsund, Norwegen on August 2, 2020 at 12:00 PM by Dirk Hampusch · iNaturalist Australia

I don’t know the source of the iNaturalist taxonomy, but suggest that it be updated to follow Bruce, NL, 2009. The marine fauna of New Zealand: Isopoda, Aegidae (Crustacea). NIWA Biodiversity Memoir, 122: 1–252.

The taxonomic authority for marine species in general is WORMS, and this sinonimy is in fact correct as stated (https://www.marinespecies.org/aphia.php?p=taxdetails&id=118829).

I created a flag for you:

@Cirolana as Thomas mentioned, the way to request specific taxonomy changes on iNaturalist is to flag the relevant taxon page for curation. I left a comment on the observation in question with more details.

Since this Forum is for broader discussions about iNaturalist, I am going to close this topic so that discussion can be focused on the taxon flag instead.

(Note that you will probably need to access the taxon flag wildskyflower created using this link instead:
