How to bulk import taxa common names (after January 2024)?

Hello. I would like to bulk import Slovak common names of various taxa that are missing in iNaturalist. I know how to add a taxon name manually, but since I am talking about hundreds to thousands of names of various molluscs, moths, plants etc. this seems like a very lengthly and tedious process.

Of course, I read forum topics related to this question (such as this one) and found this template which sadly says: “As of January 2024, we are no longer accepting bulk imports of common names or conservation statuses. Please use the iNaturalist interface for adding this information.”

My question is, how to import hundreds, maybe thousands of common names to iNaturalist when iNaturalist no longer accepts bulk imports? Does it mean it is no longer possible and the only option is to add every common name – manually – taxon to taxon?

If so, why?

Thank you.

How sad. The template was very usefull. Accoording to ‘the state of common names’ https://forum.inaturalist.org/t/the-state-of-common-names/39118/25 there are not so many common names 1,776 in Slovak.
Till around thousand you can do manually ( I used checklists for this), but if its more it’s a lot of work…

You could submit a ticket on the Help site at https://help.inaturalist.org/en/support/tickets/new and ask if there is another way to upload these names - it seems like it would be a great addition to iNaturalist

Thank you for the suggestion. Since I got no answer here, I just submitted the ticket. After I get reply, I will post update here.

Well, this is the answer I got:

Yes, we no longer support bulk uploading of names. It takes time to vet the names and then run a process to import them and we don’t have the resources to devote to it.

Sorry to hear that!
