the home page has two banners that scrolling images with a fixed delay: one at the top for miscellaneous user photos, one at the bottom for selected users. These are very distracting and irritating. How do I stop them scrolling automatically (in Firefox, on a desktop)? Settings related to autoplay and animation don’t have any effect. AdBlocker works only for a few secs because the page is constantly reloading. Static content would be tolerable, but constantly changing content is not.

You could make a custom filter with uBlock or AdBlock probably.

For what it’s worth that page isn’t really meant to be open for a long time, it’s there to get people to the log in or sign up pages. Do you often have it open for a long time?
