'If you can read this....'

I made this one up as a response to a posting in a thread about bug-lovers confessing their passions, and I wondered if we couldn’t make this into another humour thread. Something so primal about bumper stickers as a communication medium, that I hope that makes this thread fun, creative, and nice and long. Well, at least long enough to, well… stick?

So how about it? What would you like to see in a bumper sticker that professes or communicates your special connection to what you do as a member of iNat, or just connects with other iNat members and nature lovers out there?

If I have time, I’ll try to create visuals for some of these. If I get enough response, I’ll create a templated form in PDF and post a link to it, so you could just type something in and screen grab.

What would you brake for?

And your other car is….?

Honk if you…..

… ON BOARD?

etc.

Let’s have some fun, and … let’s see your ideas!

*(also works for “Don’t follow me…”)

“Honk if you love Odonata!”

“WARNING: this car may make sudden stops for wildlife”

“iNat: it’s like Pokemon Go, only better”

“I Brake For Snakes” is a bumpersticker that I had on my car probably 40 years ago, when I was an active road-cruiser. I don’t recall who produced that particular sticker, maybe my state’s herpetological society.

Might’ve also had a “I Brake For Roadkill” which was kind of popular among us museum folks back in the day.

I wanted an iNat bumper sticker, but iNat doesn’t offer one, so I made up my own. I give themout to other iNatters when I meet them (if I remember).

Not a gamer, but my son is. Is this a hat tip to a vehicle featured in GTA?

“iNaturalist: The quest for life on earth”
I love this, Lynn! @lynnharper (I wrote it out because the Discourse search doesn’t (yet) pick up text in an image, if I want to find your post again)

These would make great t-shirts, as well! Here are a couple more ideas:

“iNaturalist: Nature is calling. Take notes.”
(It’s also a good policy to take detailed notes for any questionable observation, e.g. a range extension, an observation that might be considered casual, etc.)

“iNaturalist: Crowdsourcing discovery”

Lol Ode-ing kind of sounds like ODing and ODer which means “Online dating” and “Online dater” and people always use it negatively. Things with funny names!

Do people call themselves Moth-ers too? Does anybody say that they go bugging which means to bother someone or use a device to record and spy on people?

Yeah; they’re all derived from ‘birders’ and ‘birding’. Don’t know about bugging, but we do use devices to capture images and record sounds, so I guess it still fits!
