Imperial moth (?) metamorphosis question- I don't know if its ok

Found a huge caterpillar that I believe to be an imperial moth (green with little white dots, super hairy) on a maple tree that was cut down. Metamorphosis is facinating and I love releasing butterflies and moths, so I decided to keep it until it transforms. After bringing it inside with some maple leaves, it stopped eating for several days, despite always having fresh leaves. It turned brownish and looked dead, and didnt move for days. I left it because I’ve been busy. When I looked at its container today, it has formed a chrysalis, though it seems to be in a pile of goo- should I move the chrysalis? Is it ok? It did wiggle when I moved the container. I don’t have much experience with raising moths, only butterflies, and I don’t know how different they are. Sorry the picture is bad, its in a weird spot.

I advise not moving it. The goo could be its last waste excretion before pupating. If it is damaged, you can’t do anything for it anyway, and if it isn’t, trying to move it could damage it.
