Hopefully this is not a repeat topic, but I saw an article on NPR this morning about a volunteer group that helps protect Pacific newts during their annual migration to their breeding ponds: https://www.npr.org/2025/01/26/nx-s1-5259537/how-did-the-newt-cross-the-road-with-the-help-of-the-chileno-valley-newt-brigade. As a salamander enthusiast, I’ve come across many of their observations while looking for potential locations to explore. iNaturalist is mentioned.

Seems NPR aren’t the first to cover the project, then. The article mentioned they were consulting with biologists and engineers, though. I wonder how much progress the group has made in implementing engineering solutions to the roadkill problem in the three years between the two articles.
