That is impressive, considering the residue of the residue gets harder and harder to move past another 9%^& not so blooming dicot. I still have a little winter rainfall (cleared!), some rest of South Africa, and then the rest of Africa to work thru - for 2026.

2025 still has half a million Casual obs - so we do not battle that in 2026.

My annotation count used to be very low compared to my identifications, but now that I’m using @megachile’s metadata tool, the number is shooting off like a rocket. I kept passing up milestones without noticing so I guess I’m going to wait until I hit 100,000 annotations to post it here.

It’s a truly superb tool. I just used it to add fields to several thousand observations, allowing me to map the distribution of what I believe is an undescribed plant species.

A milestone of sorts:

A nice round 1000 notification waiting for me May 25. The more important milestone: I’ve caught up! Yeah! Those are all dealt with. More keep piling up, but the list is short now.

I got back from a long trip a few days ago and was 50 notifications away from that amount. I didn’t bring my laptop with me so didn’t get to check them while I was gone.

I was on a trip recently and just finished uploading my observations from May 26th which turned out to be my best day on iNat yet with 134 observations (beating my previous record by 21). In addition, I also got around 200 life list first taxons which was more than ever before.
