I’ve noticed that lately, the Android App (iNaturalist) lags a lot, it has trouble loading observations and so. Anyone else experiencing this, too?
Agree :) something definitely changed to reduce cost. But it is fine hahaha
On Android Samsung S8+ it was slow but muy other app observation was also slow on this so i do not blame the old inaturalist app. The news apps i was using in the katun in remote areas of Montenegro responded rather good
I have a Samsung A16 and have issues on my I naturalist app with loading as well. Sometimes it completely freezes and crashes my whole phone. The app is up-to-date as well.
To my knowledge, nothing has dramatically changed in the Android app’s code in a while. The app has, for a long time, had some memory issues, especially when using Explore.
It is indeed extremely laggy.
Lately it has been crashing a LOT, including when identifying… it sinply takes you out from the selected observation back to the main ‘explore’ section… It is very frustrating…
for what it’s worth, my connection has remained untroubled and unchanged.
a reminder to everyone, you can send logs to the iNat team from within the app, this will help them pinpoint the issue.
OK, I was just able to replicate this. Are you using Explore, then swiping to go to the next observation? This has been happening to me just now when I was zooming in on the photo of an observation I was trying to identify. It happened after swiping through a decent number of observations, IDing some, etc.
I suspect it’s a memory issue.
I have to turn uploading off while I am making observations or it takes several seconds to a minute in between photos.
There are many ways to upload observations. Are you able to describe your process in more detail? If we can’t replicate an issue, it’s almost impossible to diagnose.
