iNaturalist iOS app: sort by least-observed species you've seen

Just wanted to let people know we added the option to sort your own species by least-observed in the latest version of the iNaturalist app for iOS (1.0.15 (196)).

  1. On the Me tab, tap on Species. By default species are sorted from most-observed to least-observed

  2. Tap on the arrows icon in the lower right-hand corner to bring up sorting options.

  3. Species are now sorted from least-observed to most-observed, grouped by taxon (eg all my first results are birds, then amphibians, etc)

I’m not finding the least-to-most mode very useful. Surely everyone has a lot of single observations of species, but the app is doing some taxonomic sorting in the background which appears to put birds (vertebrates?) first, then other things later…I can’t even scroll that far to see when other groups show up. What is the logic behind the species sequence in that sort? On the Me page, I wish there was a taxonomic search function which could be combined with the sort. I may put in a feature request for that capability.

Alternately, I can go to the Explore tab, search for a particular taxon, and subset those for just my own observations, but then there seems to be no grouping or resorting available on those results.

That’s a nice feature for the app - can we get it for the website also? E.g., https://forum.inaturalist.org/t/can-i-change-the-sort-order-of-the-species/48506
