Is there any estimate on when the new app will be on Android devices?
Can’t answer the question when it will officially go into beta testing but I’ve been playing around with it on Android for quite a while now by manually installing it from github.
Overall works pretty well but I am rarely using it productively (besides doing quick offline IDs on things I see). At the moment, the main thing keeping me from using it is that there are no photo editing capabilities yet.
@hedaja, thanks for the feedback.
We don’t have any time estimates to share yet. Currently working towards a more public launch on iOS, and soft launching on Android will be our next priority after that.
Ok thanks so much for the feedback! Have a blessed Thanksgiving week.
What the heck is iNat next? I’ve heard of it but never used it. I’ve asked a few people but they didn’t know. How is iNat Next better and/or different?
See here: iNaturalist Next App Soft Launch for iPhones - News and Updates
iNat is slowly working on replacing the current Android and iOS apps with a new app that’s the same for both operating systems.
Where can I locate the .apk in the link you provided for installing it on my Android?
Below the release notes there are the contributers.
right below that is a section called assets. You can open that and the first entry should be the apk
