Inputting the place ID for Northwest Territories Canada causes an error and will not show what observations have been observed in NW Territories

Platform:

App version number, if a mobile app issue: Not a mobile app issue.

Browser, if a website issue: Tested on Google Chrome and Opera GX

URLs (aka web addresses) of any relevant observations or pages: Subview map when inputting the place ID (which, if correct, is 7908) into the search bar https://www.inaturalist.org/observations?place_id=7908&subview=map

Description of problem:

Whenever I try to look at the subview map of Northwest Territories Canada, this error shows up, and when I click “OK” when the error pops up, it doesn’t set the Place ID to anywhere. If I refresh or re-enter the link, the error pops up again. I noticed this error while on Opera GX as my browser, so I decided to check it on Google Chrome as well and it also fails there. As it stands, there is no way to visibly check what observations have been recorded in Northwest Territories without searching it like shown in the below screenshot that includes parts of Yukon and Nunavut.

Yeah 7908 doesn’t exist.

Where did you get that number?

Looks to be 9079, not 7908

Edit: just realised an earlier commenter mentioned this as well

I just tried that and it worked, so it does look like I had the wrong place ID.

I got it off Google with much difficulty because it kept giving me other location IDs, and 7908 didn’t work, either, so I thought it was a bug because I couldn’t find it when I was looking at the Northwest Territories page in the link and thought it didn’t exist for some reason.

You can get the place ID by searching for Northwest Territories in the iNat Explore place filter (not the location field powered by Google). You can also search places by clicking More —> Places.

Clicking “Places of Interest” on the Explore page will also open a drop down menu with places coinciding with whatever part of the map you are currently looking at, and these can be hovered over to see the borders. I often find this a bit faster than the other methods and its nice previewing the borders as sometimes there are several very different polygons with similar names.
