Hi all,
I just got back from Kruger National Park in South Africa and am going to put my bird photos from the park on to iNaturalist.
My question is about my animal photos. Should I list them as captive or wild?
Thank you for your help!

If it’s a national park, I think they’re wild.
Why do you think animals in Kruger or any other national park are not wild? Unless they are in some enclosures, of course.
It’s a reasonable question, since many national parks in various parts of Africa have fencing, typically to keep animals from wandering into human inhabited areas.
I’ve had the same question about the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge near Denver that have bison. It seems some are marked as captive there, but not all.
Where is a national park which is not constrained and limited, either by a physical fence or people on the urban edge?
In a sense, all megafauna are captive. It’s only a question of how willing we are to pretend otherwise.
