I think this may be related to similar bug reports ( like https://forum.inaturalist.org/t/multiple-languages/75760 ) where iNat is getting confused about which common names to use when you’re in a country with multiple languages spoken.

My understanding is that identifications are always linked to the species (basically, the Latin binomial name), but, depending on your settings, a common name in English, French, or another spoken language might be displayed in UI.
