I was trying to move Solenopsis fugax from the fugax species group into the genus Solenopsis (the fugax group is not really valid) but I instead swapped the species into the genus, which made a bunch of S. fugax IDs turn into genus level Solenopsis IDs
I’m not sure what the best way to fix this is, I know taxon changes have no “undo” button, so I’m asking what should be done to correct this problem. I marked the species as active hoping to stop the changing IDs, but not sure if that worked, I know a bunch of them did change.
you’ll need to get staff to reverse the change
make a flag and tag staff there
Why were you making a swap in this case? I would have just changed the parent taxon to the genus.
I was swapping a complex to genus, and got an error message that said I have to “move” the species to genus first, while working on the swap I was thinking of “moving” as “swapping” and swapped the species instead of changing its parent, as soon as I did it I felt extremely stupid for forgetting the difference between swapping something and changing its parent
You are correct that changing the parent would be the right move here
