Make the most innovative project you can

I hadn’t gotten into ways to spread the project yet. You have some good ideas that I will definitely implement. I also will put it on my profile and share on Discord and additional forum threads.

On another note, I decided not to try to import observations from the southern Africa tree projects and instead encourage people in that area to continue using those existing projects.

Writing a journal post is a great idea, but there’s no need to rush (new ideas and/or different perspectives may emerge in the coming days/weeks).

Open question: what about an umbrella project for merging the project “Trees That Need IDs” with existing bigger or more specific “tree” projects (like the ones for Southern Africa)? This umbrella project could be the preferred entry point for identifiers, while the project “Trees That Need IDs” could be the default entry point for observers (for observations not matching a more specific “tree” project). Publicizing (by you or, later, by others) the umbrella project would make known all the projects it contains (including your traditional project).

One of my primary projects is called Lizards of the Amazon Region. I took to heart the suggestion to engage with project members by creating regular journal posts related to observation of the week to highlight user contributions as well as regular reviews of the data generated from the project. However, because identifying these can be so specialized, I also wrote out notes to myself that I shared as identification tips. I have found that engagement with the project members as well as non-members is key to avoid the project becoming a cobweb of outdated information. ait takes continued and sustained effort, but is well worth it.

Wow, you’ve worked so hard on the project! I am working on a project and I thought I were doing “hardwork”, nut that looks like nothing in front of the massive project you have made. That too alone. Unfortunately, it not much known, you should try to spread awareness, I think this project deserves attention and appreciation! Certainly worth it!

Ok, finally made the big project.

This is an umbrella project. The front end one is where all the keys start. They terminate in “species files” in the Speciesfile database. The link is here - https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/inat-speciesfile-interactive-keys-database-an-initiative-to-make-taxonomy-more-understandable

You can join the project and add keys of your own if you join all three projects under it and then send me a mail via iNaturalist requesting to be a manager (so that you can add posts). You need to be part of the project or else it is not possible to make a person a manger (this is how projects work as you know.)

Traditional projects for hard-to-categorize unidentified observations

I should say that these projects are by @schizofoam and therefore they are not your innovations. You should try to innovate something of your own and let the community talk about it.
