What do the various colors mean on the map. Example is the California Condor map showing the


's the transparent red, yellow and green.

Pink is a range map that was imported from IUCN. You can view that by clicking the little link icon next to range on the taxon page map.

Orange are iNaturalist observations.

You can get some idea of what the state/province designations are from the Status tab on the species page.

Be aware the imported IUCN maps (pink shading) are not always that accurate, either over-predicting or under-predicting the actual range. I don’t know if that’s that case for California Condor (the historical range); its distribution has obviously changed a lot in recent times, including due to reintroductions. Apparently there are old records for Alberta and Washington State. We even have one fairly recent record from New Mexico, a wanderer from the AZ/UT experimental population (not on iNat).
