Its for sure a certain subset interested in virtual comunication. However, I guess these kinds of biases are usually taken into account in scientific studies like this… especially if it is a self-reported-survey. That is why you need a minimum amount of participants, so you can account somewhat for abnormalities. However, even if forum users are a subset, the are still a broard variety of citizien scientist

Yeah, they’re using iNaturalist quite a bit (here’s our tracking project: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations?place_id=94393&project_id=desert-sands-sky-islands-9c77a145-b9ed-46cd-b09d-8c7af029e472&subview=map&verifiable=any&view=observers)
There is also some direct data gathering using ArcGIS field apps (survey123 and quickcapture).
