Nature-inspired Comics?

My son brought me “False Knees” for Christmas. It turns out I knew the young man who dreams these up, from away back - Josh Barkman. He was possibly 5 at the time I knew him, and my kids played with him and his other siblings. I’m talking about early 1990’s here! One of my favorites:

Got this out of a Reader’s Digest about 10 years ago. I really like it because I am a veteran and at the time was doing my Master’s on freshwater turtles.

Here is a bit of self promotion I’m making a webcomic called “Animals of the Apple”. it’s about animals in NYC and how we interact with them. I’m only six pages in so far, but let me know what you think.

Love this. I’m a big fan of False Knees and Rosemary Mosco aswell. I can’t see that anyone has posted Entomology Uncensored (@BugsUncensored on Twitter) yet. (Not “blue” despite the name). Here is a sample:

Hopefully, this is not behind a paywall?

I actually knew the guy who does False Knees when he was a kid. I was an adult at the time, and me and my kids used to visit the family outside Flesherton Ontario. Don’t remember him at all - just one of the kids milling around. Small world.

I love this. I don’t think it really needs the explanations, though. To those who know, it’s self explanatory!

Rohan Chakravarty is an indian naturalist who makes environment-related comics. He was formerly a dentist. I was introduced to his comics by my friend and naturalist @mahathi who also introduced me to inat. Edit: I forgot to add that this cartoonist is on inat, @rohan_chak

Since this is Australian, I have to remind myself that yes there is a bird called pardalote
with ‘forty spots’ too https://www.inaturalist.org/taxa/13529-Pardalotus-quadragintus

I saw that a couple of days ago, and First Dog is wonderful! The comic doesn’t always do nature stuff, but it’s always humorous. “a teeny tiny songbird the size of a golf ball and twice as clever.” “These maggots are hideous blood sucking opportunists bent on the deaths of tiny innocent creatures, and the extinction of endangered species. And that’s just the Tasmanian Government.”
