Hello, all! I think I’m typically fairly computer literate, but I couldn’t get discobot to acknowledge the link I tried to send, and I had to skip. I tried sending it as a single copied link in the body of the message, tried using the quote button, tried using the link button, and tried all of the different link suggestions that discobot offered, but no luck.

Is it possible that it’s because I use Firefox? Or that I’m making a mistake? Is it possible for someone to check it to see if it’s working as expected? I am flummoxed.

I did manage to earn the badges even though I had to skip that part.

If you add me to the message with discobot, I can take a look to see if it looks any different than what I did.

Edit: actually I get the same error when I restarted the tutorial (Chrome).
Not sure if this is the right place to report bugs for discobot, but since I don’t think the iNat staff have really edited that feature, I started a report here: https://meta.discourse.org/t/discobot-says-sorry-i-couldn-t-find-the-link-in-your-reply-but-a-link-was-included/136535

same here.
I’ve been scratching my head to get this work without success. browser is Chrome
it looks like the issue affects forum.inaturalist.org but does not affect meta.discourse.org.
Already posted this remark in meta.discourse.org
The issue also affects subsequest steps, emoji for instance.

Basically, it looks like we’d have to turn on the “OneBox” feature for this to work. You can read more about it here, but basically it turns any URL that takes up it’s own line into a “rich preview”. So if I put this URL on its own line:

I personally detest these but can maybe see allowing them and limiting them to one per post.

Weeks ago I tried this tutorial - got frustrated & gave up. Today was abe to finish it.
I found that a few of the tools at the top of the reply box do not work on my iMac. Is there somehere I should report that?

The second item - reply with link - doesn’t work for me. Discobot can’t read the reply.

I have been here so long, it feels silly to do the new user tutorial now. Is it a prerequisite for the advanced user tutorial?

For the advanced tutorial in French, you need to send a message to discobot :
