Newly created place doesn't get picked up by the observation search

This seems a bug to me but maybe it is not.

If I search for the place I created (Picasso Food Forest) on the “Identify” page it gets picked up by the filter and the result is shown for the specific polygon I draw and the search URL contains the place_id:
https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/identify?place_id=140997

If I search for my place on the “Explore” observations page it doesn’t get picked up by the filter and the result is shown for the bounding box around the Google Maps feature.

If I want the same result as for the identify search I have to write the URL manually like this: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations?place_id=140997

Any idea why the new place is not getting picked up by the observation search filter?

Thank you!

if you’re trying to filter the Explore page by a place you created, i think you’ll have to click the Filters button, then expand the More Filters section, and then select your place from the Place selection box. it’s a little confusing that there are iNaturalist places and Google Maps locations, and i’m not sure why they designed the page the way they did, but i think they may have plans to revamp the page in the relatively near future.

True. Weird, maybe they had some technical reason for having the main “Location” filter on the Explore page being something different from the “Place” in the “Filters” window and on the Identify page.
