Observation fields not counting correctly

Yesterday I came across a strange problem in one of my observation fields. I use several fields for sorting observations, and this one is probably my most-used at the moment as I attempt to sort katydids. I’ve been working on sorting for the better part of a year and I’m constantly adding, moving, and removing categories as I refine the identifications.

About six months or so ago I went through and annotated a rather distinctive species with the value “Shoulder stripe” (here’s a typical example). But I’ve just yesterday noticed that the observation field page tells me there are zero sightings annotated with that value, and sure enough clicking on it brings up no observations:

This is obviously not correct, as the sighting I linked to above has that value, and I certainly added it to several observations. Furthermore, if I try to find all of the observations through the Explore page, they are all there!

Needless to say I am very confused. I frequently use the observation field page to find observations that I’ve added them to, so I feel like I could have easily missed some through whatever has happened here. Any ideas on what has gone wrong, and any ideas on how to make them show up again on the observation field page?

Does upper case make a difference? Can it?

Your example obs uses Stripe
And your list of observation fields uses stripe

I have no clue. But did you notice the following ?

When I hover my mouse over the 0 count in front of Shoulder stripe in your list, I get an info bubble telling me “Used 1 time” :

Aha, I think that might be it! I will test it and see if it works. Interesting though because the URLs are exactly the same, so apparently capitalisation does not matter for the Explore page? I wonder what would happen if I had both categories

On our test server I changed it from Shoulder stripe to Shoulder Stripe and it displayed correctly:

I don’t know why that makes a difference, though. But it does. :person_shrugging:

Strange. Thanks though, looks like that is the solution!
