Description of problem: Hello, I added an obervation from my phone app, but it doesn’t show on the website while it appears in my application. This is the linked obs.

Step 1:

Step 2:

Step 3:

it looks like the observation exists (see https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/337720640.json and https://jumear.github.io/stirfry/iNatAPIv1_identifications?observation_id=337720640), but the index that is used by /v1/observations and /v2/observations might not reflect the new observation properly.

updating the observation likely will fix the issue, but it’s possible that this may have to be done via the API. i could probably do this for you, if the goal is just to be able to see the observation. but this might be something that staff may want a chance to see while the problem still exists.

i suspect this could be related to the outage in the system today, and they may need to do some follow-up activities to address stuff that may have been affected by the outage.

This happens to me occasionally too! Usually, it’s just a slight delay in the system’s indexing. If you can see it on your own profile but not in the global ‘Explore’ map yet, give it about 10–15 minutes and it should pop up. The servers sometimes just need a moment to catch up with new uploads.

Thanks. I will keep this observation and upload a new one.

I uploaded it yesterday and it still doesn’t works, so I don’t think it’s just a matter of time.

just for reference, the new observation is https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/337790447.

this isn’t a delay in indexing. it’s just caching. if you want to retrieve the latest results instead of cached results (or waiting for the cached version to expire), you can do a hard refresh of, say, the Explore page. how to achieve a hard refresh depends on your browser and OS, but it’s often going to be something like ctrl+F5.
