This observation has two ids, flowering plants and Clinopodium menthifolium ssp. ascendens. The community id is flowering plants. Shouldn’t it be the subspecies id?

No. A subspecies ID doesn’t change the community ID unless there are two of them.

Whether it’s a bug or a feature (I think there’s a thread with some details), it will at least advance to needs id within the correct species if it gets a genus-level agree. I just added one to that record as a demonstration.
