On the observations page there is a white space that is almost as large as the map itself. is this the intended website design? To me it seems like the map should take up the space until the footer area as the whitespace doesn’t seem to add anything to the layout. [image]

that page is already long overdue for a revamp. it seems any changes that address the map display will have to wait for that future revamp. see https://forum.inaturalist.org/t/support-scaling-for-widescreen-ultra-wide-monitors-on-desktop/38844 .

At such a large scale it is the only way to maintain the correct aspect ratio for the map projection.

wouldn’t the map ratio stay the same even if Antarctica was at the footer? It would show less revolutions of the map horizontally, but the aspect ratio for the projection would be the same. It’d be nice to see the map take up the available space. I had a look at the website in other resolutions and…

but, zoom in, so the world is not in triplicate?
