Web Interface Map Suggestion

Hi, is there anyone else who wishes that there was an option to have the map full screen without so much space taken up by the upper and lower banners? I’m not suggesting the banners disappear because they have important information and links, but would be nice to be able to fill the screen with the map. Forgot to mention…I’m talking about the web browser version. thx

There are some earlier threads asking for more usable area on the map. (I suggest you include the word ‘map’ in your title ?)

Yes, it’s been requested as part of the Explore page redesign (no timeline for when that will happen though): https://forum.inaturalist.org/t/ideas-for-a-revamped-explore-observations-search-page/8439/

More about how feature requests work on the forum and how to submit new requests here: https://forum.inaturalist.org/t/about-the-feature-requests-category-please-read-before-posting/69/

thank you

i’m not sure exactly what you’re trying to achieve, but some of the maps on the website do already have buttons that allow you to view the map in a full-window mode. for example, in the Explore screen, you would click the button circled below:

On my computer, clicking this button removes the banners and removes the right hand list of observations contained within the map view. The user who started this thread says they want to retain the banners and I suspect they’d want to retain the observation list as well specifically because these things are useful and they want to use them.

I do remember another thread asking for this same thing - on some very large monitors, the map is difficult to use because its vertical height is limited.
