Project observations not counted properly

I just noticed today that on the ‘my contributions’ section of this wonderful project about tree hollows, the number of observations and taxa counted is wrong and I really can’t think of a good reason why. They also don’t seem to be consistently wrong either!

So I clearly have four observations in the project, one Needs ID (the eucalypt) and three Research Grade. Of note is that the monitor observation was only added to the project last night but all the numbers should have updated by now (it was 20+ hours ago) and the miscounting seems independent of this anyway.

The number of RG grade observations (both of them) are both correct at 3, but the number of taxa and the number of observations should both be 4. I also don’t really see how it can count 3 observations but then still only say that there are 2 taxa given that all the observations are of different taxa, and especially so considering that it can accurately count that I have 3 RG observations!

So I’m really not all that sure what has gone wrong in this counting.

Similar issues have been brought up in the past and there are a number of conversations about them.

This one is probably the one most relevant:

And the page about how iNat counts taxa:

https://www.inaturalist.org/pages/how_inaturalist_counts_taxa

It is all a bit odd though as it results in apparent discrepancies both in projects and when looking at your own observations.

Thanks, I did have a read of that other post but the discrepancies there make sense to me because iNat counts species in some places and counts nodes in other places. But this one just doesn’t make sense no matter how I try to approach it - I can’t find a situation in which there can only be 2 taxa here (or only 3 observations for that matter).
