If looking at an observation with photos of various different species, I mark “Evidence related to a single subject” as No, and leave a comment about how to split the observation, then some time later the observer fixes the issue so there is only one photo, what happens to the Casual status? Does the DQA get changed automatically? Or does the observation remain casual?
Unfortunately, that does not change the DQA automatically, so it stays Casual until someone adds a “Yes” vote to the DQA. The Frequently Used Responses page includes the line, “Please make a comment if you split the different organisms, so I can update my ID.”
Or. I follow my notifications, and pick up if the ID moves - my autopilot says Why is this Casual, then I remember to check DQA.
I thought that was the case, however this morning I found an observation that yesterday had 4 photos and I had left the info about how to split it. The observer had deleted 3 photos and left no comment. I went to undo the “Multiple Species” DQA which I had yesterday set, but it was now greyed out as if there had only ever been one photo. So I was puzzled!
The inability to add a DQA vote when prerequisite conditions (ie, >1 media) aren’t met was a feature request that has been added:

However, it does seem like this
would mean that the downvote for single subject wouldn’t be grayed out, so I’m a little confused. I do think that if an observation is edited to only one photo, then the DQA vote could be dropped, though I suppose there is a small potential for abuse (eg, a person could edit to only one photo, then add the others back). But this seems really unlikely.
I wonder if someone else had already voted “Yes” after the deletion, which cancelled out my previous “No”, and then the option became greyed out?
