Remove a Field in Bulk Edit?

I often want to change a Field in a number of observations. I can add Fields in Bulk Edit, but not remove them.

I have tried adding the new Field, hitting apply, then adding the existing Filed, hitting Remove, and Apply, then save, but the Field remains.

Similarly you can only bulk add tags, not bulk remove. It is not ideal.
