Remove synonym from taxon

Hi everyone, I recently became a curator, as I am doing research on Atlantic seaweeds and I will be updating the taxonomy. I have some doubts which I will try solve using the documentation and the forum, but I might make more posts in the future.

I just added a new taxon and I’m afraid there’s a small issue I don’t know how to solve. I added Antithamnion nipponicum, which is a currently accepted taxon. However, it appears in iNat as a synonym to A. pectinatum (https://www.inaturalist.org/taxa/1460728-Antithamnion-pectinatum), although these are two independent taxa which have never been synonymized. Therefore, I want to remove A. nipponicum from the names section of A. pectinatum, but when I try to edit it, it sends me to the editting page of the newly created A. nipponicum taxon. Is there a way to remove it as a synonym without removing it as a taxon? Thank you.

I haven’t looked into this taxonomy but on this page https://www.inaturalist.org/taxa/1460728-Antithamnion-pectinatum, you would go to the Taxonomy tab, then click Edit next to the incorrect synonym. Then on the page that loads, add a reason as to why you are deleting it, and then delete it.

The process described above by @bouteloua should fix the issue, but beware that the two have actually been considered synonyms in the past and records of A. pectinatum from western Europe seemingly refer to introduced A. nipponicum (A. pectinatum was described from New Zealand) - see Cho et al (2005).

Antithamnion pectinatum doesn’t have observations.

Ah, you’re right sorry! I was looking at the synonym list in AlgaeBase. However, they are two different taxa now, so should A. nipponicum appear in the synonym list of A. pectinatum?
