Description of problem:

Step 1: I have tried to make recordings in the app using ‘Record sound’. It doesn’t work. I can make a recording with my phone, and upload it on the website but that is very inconvenient. After looking at old bug reports I installed RecForgeII, version 1.2.9.1g. It didn’t help and now my normal recorder doesn’t work so I will uninstall it. Also the import sound option results in error because it is not a correct format. My phone’s native sound recording format is M4A. It is a Motorola edge 50 neo.

m4qa should work if your phone is not Samsung …

I’m not able to replicate the in-app recording issue on my Pixel 8, it may have to do with your default sound recorder.

Are you able to send log files to us after the recording fails? To send log files, go to the About tab in the iNaturalist app and tap three times on the version number. You will then have the option to email the log files to us.

Hopping on to say I have the same problem with my Galaxy 20 FE 5g. I have to default to recording sounds in Merlin and porting them in.
