Species Download

Good afternoon,

I am attempting to use the data from iNaturalist for a paper on polyploidy related to climate in plants. To do this, I need to be able to download lists of plant species in specific US states. I do not need all observations, just the species list. I am aware (from reading other posts) of the kildor tools, but I am unsure how to work them in this scenario. Can someone point me to the correct way to use them?

What I need to do is be able to select a specific US state (example Wyoming) and download the list of wild species of plant observed in that state, ideally filtered by research grade. Is that possible?

Good morning.

Yes)
If you want to download RG plants (tracheophita) for Wyoming, you can use this link.

You should use “Species list” form. Find the proper id for place via inat (for example via Observation tool). Next you can select proper quality grade and needed taxon for the selection. That’s all.

This is very helpful, thank you. I was able to produce a CSV output. However, because of the volume of species involved, the website crashes when I attempt to scroll down. Is there a way to just download a file without having to c/p from the csv output?

The website crashes? It is very strange. Could you show me the saved form with the crash?
There is “download” button under the text field with CSV. Also when you click on the output, all text is selected.

I think it was probably my browser that had the issue. I never was able to scroll down far enough to see the download button. I will have to try it again. I found a workaround in the meantime. Thank you so much for your help!

Is there a place on your website that shows how you would like to be cited for providing this information?

No. It is just a tool, and it doesn’t provide any new knowlege over Inat data.
But if you want, I’ll think about it and tell you (and add to the site). May be you could give me advise how it may look like?
