Species or observations that most represent love/friendship to you?

Hi all, in honor of Valentine’s Day here in the US, I thought it would be fitting to ask the wider world what species or observations most represent love. This is entirely up to your own interpretation- go wild!

For me, the immediate things that come to mind are mistletoes, eastern redbud, and albatross that are partners for life.

So here in MX, we give small presents to friends and loved ones on this day. It is not just about romantic love.

This Tropical Carpenter Ant had a markedly heart-shaped head.

But since I spotted him during what I think were death throes I wouldn’t want to say he represented love/friendship.

For that I like this Observation of Nannotrigona perilampoides.

In February of 2014 I spotted this surprisingly shaped piece of ice of my deck:

There are some beautiful observations that other people have posted on iNat…

One in my favorite color: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/258207606

One in the traditional red: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/5098652

One in dark chocolate-brown: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/9861573

And one of my own observations…

Looks like love to me: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/93091804

Wild strawberries. They are literally gifts from the plant (in exchange for seed dispersal of course), and they are better than any of those bland, obese, pesticide-filled “strawberries” you can get at the store.

The storks have returned/started their bonding rituals for the breeding season. They are relatively faithful and use the same nest, so it’s hard to think of something more direct.
I don’t know if these guys are newbies and looking for a pitch, or if they’re just taking a rest there.
