I’ve recently been in the mood to upgrade my home setup with a new stereo microscope, and I was hoping that the good people of iNat would be willing to share what they use, and if they would recommend their respective scopes.
I’m interested in the variety of purposes that people are using stereo scopes for with regards to recording taxa - what are you recording, and do you have any feedback/criticisms of your particular scope? Personally, I’m hoping to increase my capability to record small taxa such as springtails, copepods, foraminifera and mites, so if anyone has experience on those (or similar) taxa I would value it especially.
A stereo microscope allows for images with a large depth of field, which is important for objects with uneven surfaces. The user can obtain a clear image, characteristic of objects with complex structures, such as insects, other small organisms, or minerals. This tool is ideal for small biological objects.
I use it to identification of bees and It’s very good in my opinion. DeltaOptical is a Polish company but from what I see on their website they can ship abroad after individual arrangement.
