I may be overlooking something, but when using the new iNat app (1.0.14 (194) with iOS 26.2.1), I can’t seem to both Suggest ID and Add Comment for that suggested ID in one effort.
If I click “Suggest ID”, the ID is added without notes, and using the iOS (but not on the website), there seems to be no way to edit the ID to add a comment. The only option presented in iOS view is to “Withdraw” the ID. (If desired, I can view the observation on the website and Edit the ID to add a comment, but this is clearly inefficient.)
Instead, with iOS, if I try to add a comment from the above screen, the result is only the comment being added to the observation, without the suggested ID.
Fixed in the next update - 1.0.15 (196) - which should be available now. At least it is for me in the App Store but it might not be available for everyone at the moment.
Tony, after updating my app (1.0.15 (196)), I realized that the buttons were confusing me. When initially viewing any observation on the app, I have two buttons, “Comment” OR “Suggest ID”. I can do one or the other but not both simultaneously.
But when when I choose an ID to add, I get two buttons, “Add Comment” and “Suggest ID” which I now understand these to be alternatives meaning (a) suggest the ID and add a comment simultaneously, or (b) suggest the ID without commenting.
I may submit a Feature Request that this latter pair of buttons be repositioned and renamed to read, “ID Only” and “ID with Comment”.
