Quick question: Is this a new thing from iNaturalist or have I missed the previous issues?
I’ve found no info in the forum.

I was under the impression it’s just a rebranding, a new name for the existing newsletter, but found no announcement for this either.

My link works now
I also missed the rebranding when it happened and thought maybe the newsletter had stopped for a while. The latest (May) issue reads very AI generated to me…
“This chain of events — photo, upload, expert recognition, local expedition, publication — is what iNaturalist is built for. One observation can change what we know about the world.”
and
“Your observations didn’t just inspire the question — they helped confirm the answer.”
Are very ChatGPT sounding… I would much rather hear monthly thoughts and reflections straight from someone on the iNat team rather than filtered through a chatbot!
as a certified AI-hater and lifelong lover of the dash, i’m not sure.
If you have a critique about the style that’s fine, but The Nature Notice is written by Arya, our Sr. Communications Manager, not by an LLM. If you’re keying off the em dashes, those are intentional. She’s a big fan of them and we’ve had friendly arguments about them because personally I like hyphens.
I quite like the new design, by the way. It’s quite appealing visually.
I shall em instead of en in future – thanks Arya
Fair enough, I meant no offense and sincerely apologize if I caused any! Even if it was partially AI generated (and I trust you when you say it wasn’t!) it’s clear that a real person worked on it as well!
