The other species of Clogmia

A few weeks ago, I observed a drain fly in the bathroom and identified it as Clogmia. It was soon placed in the species C. albipunctata. Today while identifying, I came across a drain fly identified as C. albipunctata and clicked on it to see if I could confirm it. I then looked up Clogmia in Wikipedia and iNat (conveniently, I had left the other tab at my observation of a drain fly). Wikipedia lists five species and iNat four, but the only species with an article in Wikipedia or an observation on iNat is C. albipunctata. How can I be sure that it’s that species?

C. albipunctata has white spots on the wing margin, for which it was named. It’s the first named species, so maybe another species, which also has white spots, was split off from C. albipunctata.

There may be some Clogmia experts on iNat, but you may also want to delve into the primary literature on this group. I am a frequent user of the Biodiversity Heritage Library to search for early literature on such groups.

BugGuide indicates there is only one species in North American in Clogmia, so where in the world are you?

I’m in North Carolina, and the other fly was in Los Angeles.
