did you mean to fill this out?
I never got to ask the question….
Why does one observation/research grade list the item as ‘threatened’ while the more recent observation does not? If the status changed should both be unlisted? If the status is the same, why does the more recent one not tag as threatened?
in order to answer your question we’ll need to see specific examples, ideally with links and/or screenshots so we can check if it’s a bug
Two observations, same species, both research grade.
Adding the ‘threatened’ filter, only the earlier observation appears.
Earlier ob: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/48703416
Later ob: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/207048824
The species is not listed as threatened in all locations.
For one observation, the species is listed as threatened, for the other it is not. You can see all statuses for the species here:

Thank you for providing the list, although I am still confused. Both of these observations are in Virginia, both are part of the Blue Ridge - Piedmont region. Is there a person or group that makes the decision about Virginia species designations? Or is this data only being pulled by other websites or internet postings? Still trying to understand the discrepency. (Wondering also if a human reviewed the linked list in your reply or only AI bot?)
Nothing here is from a bot – not Chris’s response, and not the information on the page he linked.
Yes, but only one of them is within the bounds of Blue Ridge Parkway. Virginia does not have a state-wide status, but the parkway within it does.
If you followed the link Chris posted, it answers these questions.

The status and obscuration were decided by the National Park Service, and an individual iNat user added that information to iNat’s database.
