Two Place_id with the same name

Hi all, what is the difference between place ID 11714 and 41157 ? Their name (or description if you will) is the same: Asunción

I see a slight difference in the border, examining https://www.inaturalist.org/observations?place_id=11714&subview=map and https://www.inaturalist.org/observations?place_id=41157&subview=map

Who draws these borders? Do they feed off OpenStreetMap?

Here are the place pages:

These places are standard places, meaning we import them from GADM. You can see one descends from the country and the other from the jurisdiction. It seems that Asunción is the only subdivision of the jurisdiction. Not sure why they have two places for it, but errors like this happen on GADM sometimes. Only staff can fix this.

Interesting @thomaseverest Any action we can take to ask for a fix?

There is a contact form on the GADM website, but it hasn’t been working for a while.

I got some weird/sketchy website that redirected from the contact form link, so not sure what is going on.

As for the iNat side, you should be able to contact staff at help@inaturalist.org. They have been going through a few place flags, so you could flag the place as well, but I’m not sure how many changes they make based off that.
