Unable to create a form for a subspecies

There is a butterfly subspecies in Malaysia which has 2 forms

  • *Cyrestis cocles earli f. formosa *
  • Cyrestis cocles earli f. earli

When I try to create a form for Cyrestis cocles earli , I get this error

  • Rank level must be finer than parent

Is this supported in iNat taxonomy ?

it looks like subspecies and form are defined in the system at the same rank level. so if you’re going to make a form, you probably need to attach it to a species, like so: https://www.inaturalist.org/taxa/1470510-Harmonia-axyridis-axyridis.
