Description of problem: Unable to edit taxon images, even when going to the ‘Curation’ section.

Recreate problem: Not sure how to recreate, possibly a user-specific bug? I was able to edit taxon images, it just doesn’t work for some reason. Issue appeared to start today, I’m pretty sure I was still able to edit taxon images yesterday.

I’m not sure if this is a bug but it seems to be an issue as I was able to edit taxon images before! It’s also not because the taxon images are locked, since it happens on every taxon.

I get the ‘edit photos’ for that sp
so user specific bug ?

probably…

I get edit as well for that sp.

@t_0x16c what about now?

I think they made it where new users or users with few observations can’t edit taxon photos because of all the trolls.

Works now, thanks :D

It doesn`t work for me neither and I´m not new, but only observed three times. Do you know how much are needed?

You should be able to edit taxon photos now.

Curators can edit photos on taxonomic iNat things?

I think anyone can edit taxon photographs. I can, and I’m not a curator.

Super cool! Thanks!

You can.
But remember, History tells us who did what to taxon pictures.

Cool, I have some good photos.

Please keep in mind that the editing taxon photos funcitonality is not there primarily for people to add their own photos to a taxon. It’s to add best set of photos that represent the taxon.

That’s what I mean. I want to add more good photos to a specific taxon.

Limited to 12 photos. Make sure each one earns its place (especially the first one, then the next 3) for the range of field marks. The typical organism, not the one off weird.

A thought from your mention of “the typical organism”, how about photo collages/stitches that demonstrate range of variability? Seems it could be a useful thing (in some cases) that would otherwise take up multiple of the 12. I don’t personally recall seeing such images, but maybe I’ve just missed them, or perhaps they’re barred.

Collage is not barred, but for CV single images are preferred.
I would also prefer good and separate photos for each field mark.

On another thread - someone is battling with red fox taxon pictures.
They said - it is called red for a reason. But someone keeps uploading the unusual dark grey one instead. Not helpful.

Ah, so the taxon images get used in the CV also? Are they weighted differently to observation photos?
