I have encountered a user who has associated their account with the iNaturalist Australia node, despite having no clear association with the country of Australia (0 observations within the country). The only relation seems to be that they regularly identify some Australian species.
Is this technically allowed? I did ask them in a comment why they have picked that particular node, but did not receive a response.

Yes, it’s allowed. There are no restrictions on who can join which iNat Network sites.
