Should all photos posted be ones that you, yourself have taken? Is it permissible to post photos of a friend who is not on iNaturalist , and give that person credit in the description section?

From memory there is discussion about this elsewhere on the forum (too). It’s generally frowned upon because images are automatically attributed to you the iNaturalist user, which has implications for licensing etc. Better to encourage your friend to join iNaturalist!

It is only permitted if you were present when the photo was taken (ie it represents your personal experience of seeing the organism). Even then it must be with permission and must be credited.

As was stated in previous topic - create another profile for your friend and it will solve copyright issue.
