In terms of gaining the publics interest especially.
If you could request an artist to express or communicate something to the public, what would it be?
Maybe a neat factoid or a public safety warning? Excited to see the various replies
I’d love to collect answers from the community for a potential future project I’m working on.
I am a little confused, I think because you said warning, about what you are looking for. Could you tell us a bit more?
Ahh pardon me sometimes I struggle with words
I’m a freelance artist that enjoys doing various projects to post on social media.
Specifically I’m looking for any form of information you’'d want more publicly known or feel would spark interest in your field. A warning you’d want to give to the public was just an example.
Generally anything that’d be useful or interesting I could try to communicate through illustrations/paintings.
It recently came to my attention how important public interest is for the sciences and I’m wanting to make a series based on that note.
We need to take action on the climate change problem, or else Earth will fall into even more chaos than it is in right now.
I guess to go into detail…
I realize I have an opportunity to express something productive, preferably straight from the mouth of real researchers. The convenience about asking directly is it snuffs out any chance of misconceptions from poor research on my part.
I feel more direct answers gives me a more intimate understanding that’s just fun to translate into something as well. I’ve always been starstruck towards people so dedicated, it takes self dicipline levels I’ll never get close to . I guess I found a way I can still “help”
I’ve heard scientists lament about the public not knowing about a service in their area… A popular one I’ve seen similar artists do was warnings about Spotted Lanturn Flies as a direct example
I do not know what kind of series you envision but I would love to see bee posters educating about the diversity of bees (size, color, etc.).
Every bee thing features the same, improbable generic bee.
Yeah this type of thing! Little info graphs you might see posted on instagram or bluesky.
haha actually let me get back to you on that
The fact blue bees actually exist I know already is a good one! A painted render of Thyreus himalayensis ? The “human” factor I’m painting a real animal during this era of Ai garbage I’d hope grab some attention
This is enough for me to make an example
Pardon me aha I was a bit over-excited to get this idea going and should’ve thrown together an example first
In this case drawing a few different eye popping species would work to get the idea of diversity across. I realize how important even the vein placement within the wing is and can manage a render that accurate

Maybe get a greenlight from the forums before posting?
I’d just love to express real information in a re-tweetable modern format for a wider audience that I can trust is correct and needed out there
Other examples that come to mind
// Many animals capable of changing sex
//how to interact with animals //beached aquatics//leave baby birds alone//
//Theres a frequent confusion between mistletoe and holly during the holidays
But I can direct people to projects that need funding or point out interesting research that needs more attention It’s this type of attention I’d like to help with
An example of a group needing reports I’ve pointed folks to in the past

Yes! So many people don’t know this!
Please do this. I volunteer at a wildlife clinic and so many people bring in animals they should have just left alone. The clinic then has no choice but to take these animals, and spend money rehabilitating something that didn’t need help before the well intending individual brought it in. If you want to DM me, I have a lot of sources/facts/ideas for this kind of an infographic.
Ah that’d be perfect thankyou so much! I was worried I’d be discouraged because of the way I write
I really appreciate the welcoming replies
I already did have a separate idea to paint the animals in our nearby shelters that direly need adoption that’d sister this nicely!
I’ve sadly made this mistake in the past though did later in life a valid rescue of two sparrows that were trapped in the base of a pole in a medical facility
I realize animals changing sex naturally is an extremely important argument for progressive support.
The “do not touch the wildlife” issue I’ve heard has been especially bad in hawaii recently. With some crowds being so focused on their page-views they don’t realize harassing or even touching some wildlife is a crime in some areas iirc.
People handling things like the blue ringed octopus not having a clue how much danger they’re in
Haha I should do a sheet of animals under the caption “We know we look pretty! You can look! But please don’t touch us!”
Yeah! I was a bit hesitant to cite any artists by name But exactly this direction yes!
Though my core focus is to integrate a heave “real people” factor by directly interpreting researchers. I guess in the spirit of recording history and real peoples thoughts, rather than what may sell well.
I’m not out for money, I just realize how direly education is needed in modern formats.
I’m genuinely concerned about the future generations and how dramatically academic scores are dropping. There needs to be a better focus on the arts and sciences where the distractions are. I think natural enthusiasm without financial incentive as the main focus and more in the spirit of scientist to artist translation I’d hope would be a fun unique approach
I’m hoping I can appreciate iNat to interview potentially even interview people, if they’re comfortable I can give a short blurb about their work or whatever they personally want known.
I’ve just talked to quite a number of scientists and they all equally seem distressed and anxious in some way that usually needs public interest or attention at it’s core. Talking to a avian infection expert at one point he lamented the importance of keeping your birdfeeders clean with proper disinfection methods to prevent the spread of disease I was giving him footage of a massive welt on a poor great tit when I was abroad at my feeder. Ended up following instructions to send a specimen to him that I came across//was a bit wild having that in the freezer
