What is Geoprivacy when adding an observation?

I can choose among Open, Obscured, and Private. I am not sure what means Private. My own garden is of course private but that location should not be obscured to other people, that is it should not result in “Location unknown”.

Thank you for the link. I was a little bit irritated when clicking on “Your observations” in the top line of the iNaturalist home page and saw that some of my observations were shown as “Place Unknown”.

I hear you. I know that the “Private” setting is a bit ambiguous (as in does it mean “private property”?) - you’re using the web uploader?
