On this observations: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/7836244 The observer had an initial ID of fungi, and a few of us corrected it to slime molds (I found it through “State of Matter Life Cleanup”). They responded with thanks and I asked them to agree with slime mold or withdraw their ID, and when I looked back again the original ID had dissapeared instead of being marked as withdrawn. Is this a bug? Its not a big deal, as the agreed upon ID was preserved, but it might take away a datapoint from “Similar Taxa”.
I don’t think it’s a bug, since it’s a choice under “Edit.”
Ohhhh, nevermind then. I had never noticed that option clicking through to edit. I had always just withdrawn, or if I was editing I clicked in there to change a comment rather than the ID or with throughts to delete. Mystery solved XD
There is another discussion going on about whether people should delete instead of withdraw, though, at https://forum.inaturalist.org/t/disagreeing-id-text-is-persistent-once-previous-id-is-deleted/3978.
