Description of problem:

Step 1: Go to observation in Identify link above and click to zoom on pics 1 and 3.

Step 2: See pics stretch weirdly on zoom. Pic 2 does not.

Step 3:

I think that there shouldn’t be any stretching. The pics are pretty small and so should just display at their max size, or, if magnified past their original size, maintain the same proportion. I see some other Zoom-related Bug Reports but couldn’t find anything about proportions changing. I’ve done a lot of IDing but haven’t run into this before. The stretching doesn’t happen in the observation page:

I just noticed that on a few observations myself for the first time today. Ironically, they were photos of bugs… (well, hexapods of some sort, anyway!). And the ones I saw were all much more stretched than this (way out of recognition). I just hadn’t got around to reporting.

For the record, I was using Firefox on my phone.

Can you post any links to specific ones if you find? It often helps to have >1 example for assessing bugs

I can replicate, I’ll let our devs know.

Just found this as one example, if you still wanted it. https://inaturalist.ala.org.au/observations/196367958

It’s such a weird bug because it only seems to happen in the Identify modal and not the main observation page.

This has been fixed. We moved the Identify page to API v2 this week, and this is one of a few bugs related to that. Let us know if you find any more.
