Can you add observations to an umbrella project? For example, an organization has an umbrella project and under that “umbrella” there are various nature preserve that are individual projects. It would be easier to simply add to the umbrella project rather that joining so many individual ones. Is this possible?

No, it is not possible. Any observation in any one of the projects underneath the umbrella will be included in the umbrella.

You don’t need to join any collectional or umbrella projects to have observations in them unless it is stated in the rules of the project, when you join 1 you just get a badge of it appearing on observation.
