i can’t reproduce this using the same version of the Android app (on Pixel 3a), looking at your observations or mine, clicking to the observation or swiping to the next.

The next time this happens, please send screenshots and log files to help@inaturalist.org . To send log files, go to the About tab in the app and tap three times on the version number. You will then have the option to email the log files to us. That should give us a clue into what the app is doing.
