Android app users: can you see if you've added an observation to a project without editing?

On iNat Classic for iOS, the only way you can see if you’ve added your observation to a project is to click Edit and look under Projects.

On the iNaturalist (iNat Next) app for iOS, however, this is visible under observation details. No need to click edit to see this.

What about on the Android app? Do you have to click the pencil/edit button to see this or is this info visible under each observation?

That doesn’t show up in my version of the app on a Samsung android 15 phone, BUT there is a share icon that will take you to the observation on the website and it shows all the projects that it’s included in.

Note: other manufacturer’s phone may be different.

Thank you!

This is what I see if I open an observation without editing. If you scroll down it says “Included in 6 projects” for this particular observation, then when I tapped that it opened a screen that shows the projects the observation is part of.

I don’t see that on my Samsung with Android version 15 phone

Interesting. Is this the most recent version of the app?

I believe so. I just looked in the store and it doesn’t mention anything about there being a newer version avaliable.

I’m told that not all versions of Android on various manufacturers phones are necessarily identical.

Interesting that they would be different between manufacturers! I have a Google Pixel 9, in my settings it says I have Android version 16.

Would seem to confirm what I’ve been told. Just curious - do you see the ‘share’ icon in your version?

I think there may be a difference depending on whether it is a traditional or collection project. For example, my observaation of an Alkali Bluet, according to @merylgreen 's method, is "included in one project:

But on the website, as seen on my computer, it is seen to be in two projects:

When following the link from the app, it shows the project Blue! but not the project LGBTQ+ Naturalists. The difference is that Blue! is a traditional project where every observation has to be added manually, whereas LGBTQ+ Naturalists automatically includes all observation made by project members.

Yes, on the top right of the photo. Tapping it offers the options of share, share location, and view on iNaturalist

That is confusing… I went and checked the observation I used as an example above and the number of projects matched. I found another that shows it is part of 1 project in the app and part of 4 when I viewed the same one on the website. I also noticed some observations that do not show they’re part of any projects in the app (the button does not show in this case) but they are part of several projects on the website.

Hmmm… I guess it’s best to simply go to the website using the share icon. Presumably the website has the complete picture.
